RESUMO
ABSTRACT. Angina bullosa hemorrhagica (ABH) was first described by Badham in 1967 as a disease characterized by either one single lesion or multiple lesions of sudden appearance, with a color ranging from dark red to purple. It often affects the soft palate, but there are reports of cases in the oral mucosa, the side edge of the tongue, and the gingiva following hygienic therapy. This report presents the case of a patient subjected to crown enlargement surgery to correct type 1B altered passive eruption. Two weeks after surgery she had a red painful lesion of sudden appearance in the vestibular gingiva of the upper left and right maxillary, that worsened in a period of four months. A biopsy was taken, with results compatible with ABH. The goal of this article is to report a new case of ABH, its clinical characteristics and differentiation to other hemorrhagic diseases of the oral cavity, as well as its respective management.
RESUMEN. La angina bullosa hemorrágica (ABH) es una patología definida por Badham en 1967, caracterizada por ser una lesión única o múltiple de aparición repentina; su color puede variar entre el rojo oscuro y el púrpura. La zona más afectada es el paladar blando, aunque se han descrito casos en la mucosa oral, el borde lateral de la lengua y a nivel gingival después de terapia de fase higiénica. Se presenta el caso de una paciente para realizar cirugía de alargamiento coronal para corregir erupción pasiva alterada tipo IB, a las dos semanas del posquirúrgico presenta una lesión de aparición repentina roja y dolorosa en la encía vestibular del maxilar superior derecho e izquierdo, la cual se agrava hacia los cuatro meses de evolución y se decide tomar biopsia, tras lo cual los resultados son compatibles con ABH. El objetivo de este artículo es reportar un nuevo caso de ABH, sus características clínicas y diferenciación con otras enfermedades hemorrágicas de la cavidad oral y su respectivo manejo.
